José has worked in investment banking, primarily in infrastructure, energy and resources across multiple first world and emerging markets. From South Africa, he initially trained as an actuary but moved into investment banking in the early nineties, first with Standard Bank and then Investec Group. Jose progressed to head Investec’s Project & Infrastructure Finance and Commodities & Resource Finance businesses. Jose transferred to Sydney in 2004 as Head of Capital Markets (Australia), and was actively involved in pioneering green energy projects in the early 2000s, as well as broader infrastructure, commodities and resource finance transactions. Over the last ten years, he has undertaken advisory work in debt capital markets, specialised funds, resources and exchange-traded equity derivatives for a diverse client portfolio including State-owned power companies and start-up fintech firms.
